- Accessing the FDO database requires an in-person visit to the Lexington Public Library’s Central Branch, which is located at 140 East Main St. Lexington, KY 40507.
The parking structure can be accessed from the lefthand side of Main St. or the righthand side of Water St. Here is the entrance view from Main St.
The library will validate up to 2 hours of parking for free, but you must ask for a validation ticket before you leave.
- Once inside the Central Branch, navigate to the 3rd floor.
- Once on the 3rd floor, navigate to the “Kentucky Room”
- The Foundation Directory Online may be accessed by using the computer stations inside the Kentucky Room (ask a staffmember for help logging on) or by using a personal laptop.
The remaining instructions are for the personal laptop approach. At the time of this writing, a library card was not necessary for any of these steps.
Connect to the library’s open WiFi on a personal laptop, right.
- Once connected to the library’s Wi-Fi network, navigate to the library’s website at www.lexpublib.org, right.
- Once on the library’s website, navigate to “Collections” then “Nonprofit Resources”.
- Once on the “Nonprofit Resources” page, click “Foundation Directory Online”.
- If all is working properly, the software should automatically login to Foundation Directory Online.
- Before leaving the library, request a parking validation ticket from one of the customer service desks. When you exit the parking garage, remember “black before red”. Insert the black parking ticket first followed by the red validation ticket, which will give you 2 free hours.
